Housr is now live at the University of Oklahoma!

It’s official: Housr is now the University of Oklahoma’s official off-campus housing resource🎉

Starting this year, OU students will have free access to a powerful, unified app for finding off-campus housing, meeting roommates, and tapping into discounts and services from businesses across Norman and nationally. And that’s Housr.

It's a milestone for us for two reasons. It's another major U.S. campus joining Housr in what has already been our biggest year. And it's a great illustration of what we've spent five years building: a student housing experience that works for students and the university teams supporting them.

The problem we keep hearing

Moving out of on-campus housing is one of the most stressful things a student does, and it's stressful in a very specific way. The information is scattered. A university-hosted list of landlords here, a Facebook group there, a group chat where someone's trying to find a fourth roommate, a separate scramble to set up internet providers and find out local businesses that offer student discounts.

Meanwhile, most universities use a static directory on their website that provides a dated experience for students and limited visibility into what students are actually experiencing in the private rental market for the university housing team.

Housr solves all that and improves the experience for both sides with its mobile app and University Portal.

What OU students get

  • Housing search: Property listings verified and curated by Housr’s team from a network of operators and realtors.

  • Tours in three taps: Book a viewing without having to make a phone call or send an email.

  • Roomie: In-app roommate matching, so finding people to live with isn't a group-chat lottery.

  • Direct landlord messaging: Conversations happen in the app.

  • Local business discounts, perks and events: Norman businesses can share offers and resources directly with the OU community.

What OU's housing team gets

This is the part that tends to matter most in conversations with universities.

Via Housr’s University Portal, institutions have a dashboard with a live view of the housing status of students, occupancy analytics, student engagement scores, reported landlord issues and problem properties, and visibility into student-landlord communications — with multi-level admin permissions and audit reporting.

In addition to that, universities can rest assured that everyone on the app is a verified student since they’re all enrolled through the university’s single sign-on.

Housr is free for students and institutions alike. And because we integrate with the systems operators already run on like Yardi, Entrata, and more, inventory stays current without anyone having to update it.

Why now, and why the U.S.

We started Housr in 2021 at the University of Manchester, out of exactly the frustration described above. Over four years in the U.K. Housr has established itself as an off-campus housing solution to reputed universities and students' unions, including the University of Birmingham and the University of Reading Students' Union, and has worked closely with sector bodies including British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).

Last year Housr closed a $10 million (£7.5 million) Series A led by Ashta Capital, with participation from Juniper Equity, on the back of 186% year-over-year revenue growth. The plan for that capital was never complicated: product, people, and U.S. campuses.

Since then, we've established our U.S. headquarters in Chicago alongside our global HQ in Manchester, with a target of reaching one million students by the end of this year.

What's next

OU joins the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Webster University on Housr’s growing roster of U.S. institutions, with more coming. Housr has several additional campus launches planned throughout the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, alongside new products designed to support students across the wider university experience. This includes solutions addressing the financial challenges of student living, where many of the most significant pressures and stresses occur.

If you're at a university or college thinking about your off-campus housing strategy, or you're an operator or local business wanting to reach students in the markets where we're already live, get in touch.

OU students: you can find Housr through OU Student Affairs, or download the app at housr.com.
