Housr is now live at Creighton University!

It's official. Creighton University has named Housr its official off-campus partner, and the app is now live for students on both the Omaha campus and the Health Sciences Campus in Phoenix. Starting this week, Creighton students on both campuses can download Housr for free to unlock exclusive student discounts, search verified off-campus listings and find roommates, all in one place.

This one means a lot to us. Creighton is our second partner in Nebraska, and launching for the university's Health Sciences Campus in Phoenix marks the first time Housr has been available for students in Arizona.

Getting to know the city beyond the campus

Whether they're in Omaha or Phoenix, we want Creighton students to feel connected to the neighborhoods around their campus, well before moving into one. The coffee shop where you cram for exams and the restaurant you take your family to when they visit should feel like part of the Creighton experience too.

That's where Perks comes in. It brings exclusive student discounts from local businesses into the app, alongside offers from global brands. Students get more reasons to explore their city and more out of their budgets, and local businesses get to welcome Creighton students right on their doorstep. Businesses near either campus can promote their events to the Creighton community through the app too.

Supporting housing and life for Creighton students

Freshmen and sophomores at Creighton's Omaha campus are required to live on campus unless they're approved to commute from home in the Omaha area. Creighton has been putting real investment into that experience. This year, the university opened Magis Hall, a $50 million residence hall for more than 400 sophomores, complete with apartment-style suites and a wellness space called The Aviary. Juniors and seniors moved into Kenefick.

Underclass housing is well covered. Junior and senior housing is a different story. Adam Stafford, Creighton's Director of Housing and Auxiliary Services, told The Creightonian that the university doesn't have enough beds to meet demand from juniors and seniors. At the time, Opus Hall was the only residence hall for upperclass students, with 282 beds. That's why many juniors and seniors head into the private market around the Omaha campus, often signing leases months before they move in.

In Phoenix, Creighton's Health Sciences Campus opened in 2021 at Park Central in midtown Phoenix and is now home to nearly 1,000 students in medicine, nursing, pharmacy and other health programs. Those students need a place to live near Park Central too.

On either campus, finding the right place usually means a listings site in one tab and a group chat hunting for a fourth roommate in another. That's the moment Housr is built for.

What Creighton students get

Whichever campus they're on, Creighton students get:

  • Housing search: Listings near both campuses, verified and curated by Housr's team from a network of local operators and realtors.

  • Tours in a few taps: Book a viewing without picking up the phone or sending an email.

  • Roomie: Roommate matching with other Creighton students, instead of a group chat that goes nowhere.

  • Landlord messaging: Questions and maintenance requests happen right in the app.

  • Perks: Exclusive discounts and offers from local businesses and global brands.

What Creighton's housing team gets

This is the part university housing teams tend to ask about first. Housr's University Portal gives Creighton's housing staff a live view of the off-campus picture across both campuses, including:

  • Each student's housing status: Secured, touring or not started

  • Where students are living, with occupancy analytics

  • Engagement scores for each enrolled student

  • Reported landlord issues and flagged problem properties

  • Visibility into student-landlord conversations, with multi-level admin permissions and audit reporting

Housr is free for students and free for Creighton. Listings stay current because we connect to the systems operators already run, like Yardi and Entrata.

Housr’s origin story, and how far it’s come

We started Housr in 2021 at the University of Manchester, out of frustration with how hard it was for students to find somewhere to live off campus.

In the U.K., we work with universities and students' unions including the University of Birmingham and the University of Reading Students' Union. We've since closed a $10 million Series A led by Ashta Capital, with participation from Juniper Equity, and opened our U.S. headquarters in Chicago.

Growing in Nebraska and Arizona

Creighton is our second Nebraska partner after the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, expanding our footprint across the state's two largest cities. It's also our first partner in Arizona. Creighton joins a growing roster of U.S. partners that includes UNL, the University of Oklahoma and Webster University, with more launches on the way.

We're also building new products for the parts of student life that cause the most stress, starting with money.

If you own or manage property near Creighton in Omaha or Phoenix, or you run a business Creighton students should know about, get in touch. If you're at a university working out your off-campus housing strategy, we'd like to hear from you.

Creighton students can download Housr now from the App Store or Google Play, or at housr.com. And if you're in Omaha, come find us on campus during launch week.

*Creighton University does not endorse individual properties, landlords, realtors or businesses available through Housr. Listings and participating businesses are managed by Housr.
