Getting around

Shoreditch High Street station sits on the Windrush line of the London Overground, between Whitechapel and Hoxton, so you can be in Dalston or Canada Water within a few stops either way. Old Street station handles the Northern line plus National Rail's Northern City Line up to Moorgate and out to Hertford, and Hoxton station covers the same Overground route a few minutes further north.

Buses cut across the area constantly: the 8, 26, 35, 47, 55, 78, 149 and 242 all run through Shoreditch, connecting you to Liverpool Street, Bank and Angel without needing to go underground at all. If you're heading toward Mile End, the 205 runs from Old Street straight past Bow Church, or you can hop on the Overground to Whitechapel and change onto the District or Hammersmith & City line for two stops.

London Metropolitan University's Shoreditch campus is on Kingsland Road, a few minutes' walk from Shoreditch High Street station, so students there don't have much of a commute to worry about.

City St George's, University of London sits at Northampton Square in Clerkenwell, about 15 to 20 minutes on foot along Old Street and Goswell Road, or a quick bus if the weather's against you.

Queen Mary University of London's Mile End campus is reachable via the 205 bus from Old Street, or the Overground to Whitechapel with a short change onto the District or Hammersmith & City line, putting it around 20 minutes door to door.
