It's noisy on a Friday night and dead quiet by 10am on a Monday, which suits most first-years fine.

For a bit more distance from the centre, Earlsdon's terraced streets are the usual pick, a suburb about a mile southwest of the city centre. Earlsdon Street's cafés and independent shops give it a village feel that the city centre doesn't have, and it's still an easy walk or short bus ride into lectures.

Warwick students tend to look further out. The castle town of Kenilworth sits about three miles from Warwick's campus, with a compact high street, Kenilworth Castle and Abbey Fields park all within walking distance of the town centre. It's quieter than the city, and the bus into campus takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.

Further out again, Leamington Spa's Regency streets hold a big chunk of Warwick's student population, despite sitting around eight miles from campus. The trade-off is a proper high street, Jephson Gardens on your doorstep, and a train that reaches Coventry in around 15 minutes if you need to get across the city.

Universities in Coventry
